A tour desk will operate exclusively at the Convention Centre on Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday from 8.00am - 11.00am. This desk will offer partners the opportunity to book either half or full day tours that will enable you to truly experience Christchurch and the Canterbury region.

Partners are welcome to take part in the optional activities on Monday 3 May and variations of these activities operate seven days a week. We do also recommend you take the opportunity to travel further afield and experience even more of the Canterbury region.

Kaikoura Whale Watching Tour
This tour takes you north of Christchurch, to Kaikoura, a traditional fishing village nestled between the Southern Alps and the Pacific Ocean, to enjoy the ultimate marine experience - a close encounter with a giant Sperm Whale.

Your Whale Watch Tour by boat is a unique experience, and sightings vary. On a typical Whale Watch Tour, with up to 2.5 hours on the water, you should sight the giant Sperm Whales. You may also encounter New Zealand Fur Seals, Dusky Dolphins, and the endangered wandering Albatross.

Hanmer Springs Tour

Nestled in the magnificent South Island high country is Hanmer Springs, a beautiful and charming alpine village and spa resort surrounded by majestic mountains and mature forests. For 125 years, Hanmer Springs has attracted visitors seeking the benefits of its natural mineral waters and clean, clear alpine air.

Included in your tour is admission to the Hanmer Springs Thermal Reserve. You can bathe in the 12 thermal pools, with temperatures ranging from 33 - 42 degrees Celsius.

Rangitata Rafts

Fun and exciting white water rafting set in the rugged beauty of the Southern Alps - yet only a day trip from Christchurch. Enjoy this full day of adventure with our team of professional guides. Raft the exhilarating grade 1 - 5 rapids of the Rangitata Gorge. Or if you prefer a more sedate trip our fun grade 2 option is perfect.

Balloon Adventures Up Up and Away
Fly in Canterbury, with one of the world’s most experienced ballooning companies. Canterbury’s geography and climate are ideal for ballooning; they provide a unique situation where passengers can experience Canterbury’s landscape as only a few have seen it from a gently floating hot air balloon.

Discover Mt Cook

Depart Christchurch and travel through the rich pastoral farmland of the Canterbury Plains. The tour continues further inland and travels across the historic Burkes Pass. The views are breathtaking as you descend towards the stunning, glacial fed Lake Tekapo. From Tekapo, you will travel up the western side of Lake Pukaki at the foot of New Zealand’s tallest mountain, Mount Cook.

As you arrive at the Mount Cook village, you will be mesmerized by the alpine surroundings of this truly unique region. There are plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding walking tracks or experience an ultimate scenic flight by helicopter or ski plane.

Garden Tour

This tour takes you to three outstanding private gardens in the Christchurch area. As you travel from garden to garden, you will also enjoy the scenic panoramas available from the Port Hills including Christchurch City, the Canterbury Plains, Southern Alps, and Lyttelton Harbour. At each garden you will see a wide range of native and exotic plants and trees, such as rhododendrons, camellias, roses, magnolias, hostas and lavender.
