As President of ANZAN I would like to thank Matthew Kiernan, and his Scientific Programme Committee, for an incredible ANZAN Annual Scientific Meeting in Christchurch, New Zealand.  Our annual scientific meeting is always the highlight of our Neurology calendar.  In 2009, the Scientific Programme Committee invited an extraordinary line up of international and local speakers. These included: Professor Greg Albers, Stanford University Medical Center, USA Professor David Miller (Ian McDonald lecturer), Queen Square, UK Professor Peter Goadsby, University of California, San Fransisco, USA Professor Austin Sumner, Louisiana State University, New Orleans, USA In addition to the high quality scientific programme, the other highly important aspect of any Conference is the social programme, allowing delegates the opportunity to network and catch up with colleagues and friends.   Our Christchurch meeting was quite simply one of the best yet, educationally and scientifically, with near reward attendance and excellent organisation. We thank our industry supporters for helping to make the meeting such a huge success and for the delegates who always make our meeting so successful.  The Scientific Programme Committee is already planning the 2010 meeting and if the Christchurch meeting is a guide, 2010 is set to be even better, impossible as this may seem!
