The half marathon course will be around Lake Hood, providing a relaxed and scenic environment in the clean air of mid-Canterbury!

 

Lake Hood is just 70 minutes drive from Christchurch in a beautiful rural setting and is a perfect environment for a sports event.  

The Half Marathon will start and finish at the Lake House bar and restaurant on the waters edge of Lake Hood and is a perfect spot for spectators and supporters to watch the action unfold. Enjoy a meal after the event at the Lake House restaurant, or purchase a snack from the outlets available on-site.

Half Marthon Training Programme

Looking for motivation or training for the Half Marathon?  Ci Sport recommends RaceTeam, a 10 week group training programme based in Christchurch starting 12 September 2010.

 

Lunch and snacks are available from The Lake House.

Registration will take place at Lake Hood the Lake House Restaurant and Bar on Friday 19 November between 4.00pm - 7.00pm. where you will register and pick up your race pack.

Registration at Lake Hood Saturday 20 morning option
If you are unable to get to the registration on Friday you may register on Saturday morning between 7.00am - 8.45am.

Half Marathon
The course is three laps of Lake Hood.  A map of the course can be downloaded here

The run course
The course is three full laps of the lake in a clockwise direction with a small loop into the subdivision. 

Leave transition by Lakehouse Restaurant meeting up with road, Travelling Clockwise around Lake Hood, Turn Right into Ludlow Drive, Proceed to Turnaround, (526 meters after turning in), Proceed back along Ludlow Drive, Turn Right into Huntingdon Drive, Back towards the Lakehouse Restaurant), Proceed around Boardwalk to proceed beside the Finish Area,

Start your second lap, Travelling Clockwise around Lake Hood, Turn Right into Ludlow Drive, Proceed to Turnaround, (526 meters after turning in), Proceed back along Ludlow Drive, Turn Right into Huntingdon Drive, Back towards the Lakehouse Restaurant), Proceed around Boardwalk to proceed beside the Finish Area, Start your Third Lap, Travelling Clockwise around Lake Hood, Turn Right into Ludlow Drive, Proceed to Turnaround, (526 meters after turning in), Proceed back along Ludlow Drive, Turn Right into Huntingdon Drive, Back towards the Lakehouse Restaurant), Proceed around Boardwalk and proceed to the Finish.


Race Rules

General:

  • It is the competitor's responsibility to know the course and remain on the correct course.
  • Race numbers must be worn front and back. Those wearing race belts need to ensure that your race number is on your front during the run so that the time keepers at the finish can record your correct time.

Prize giving
Prize giving for Half Mararthon will be held at the completion of the race at Lake Hood at the Finish area at the Lake House Restaurant.

Spot Prizes
Spot prizes will be given out following the awards presentation by a random race number draw. To be in the draw on completion of your race place your race number in the container provided. You must be present to collect any spot prize.

Race Briefing

This website page is your race briefing. There will be a pre-race briefing held before the swim start on race day as described below.  You must make yourself familiar with the race information contained in this website page.
All competitors are required to be at the race briefing. Inherent in this briefing is an acknowledgement that you are familiar with Rules and the contents of this website page. Any queries should be directed to the Race Director prior to race day. Knowledge of the course and rules is the responsibility of the competitor!


Spectators
Rules to Remember for Cheer Squad, Family & Friends

DO NOT bike, drive or run beside a competitor on any part of the course. This is outside assistance.  DO NOT bike, drive or run beside a competitor on any part of the course.  This is outside assistance and can lead to disqualification of that competitor.

DO NOT use permanent paint or crayon for graffiti on any road. Chalk is acceptable but where permanent paint graffiti is identified to a competitor, that competitor will be disqualified.

DO make sure your competitor has read and knows the Race Rules pertaining to this race, and has thoroughly read this document.

DO make sure your competitor keeps his/her Competitor Bib No# secured to clothing

The Lake House restaurant will have a selection of food and beverage available for purchase.

Aid Stations

Run Course
There are a total of three aid stations per lap, maximum 2.5k apart.

Recovery
Water, electrolyte drink and fruit will be available after you cross the finish line.

Massage
Massages are available Saturday located in the onsite event headquarters near the recovery area.  Own cost.

First Aid
St Johns First Aid will be available throughout the race and on the course.  Please ask for medical help if you have any hint that you may need it.  Conditions on the day may be hot, humid and windy.

Please ensure you hydrate well before, during and after the race.
