Invitation

Along with the rest of the Regional Organising Committee we are delighted to invite you to Christchurch for the 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists
(ANZCA) and Faculty of Pain Medicine. This Meeting will be held at the Christchurch Convention Centre, a world class venue, from the 1st to the 5th May, 2010.

The theme of the Meeting, "How Meets Why – Clinical Practice and the Science Behind it", will provide updates on contemporary clinical anesthesia practice mixed with the scientific rationale underlying that practice. Mark Waddington and the Scientific Subcommittee have assembled a star studded cast of internationally respected speakers who will participate in a range of lectures, varied practical workshops, and small group sessions.

This year all free papers, apart from those selected for Prize Sessions, will be presented in moderated Poster Sessions. We believe this format provides more opportunity for interaction and feedback than the traditional free paper oral presentation and allows the work to be seen by more people There will be prizes for the best posters.

The social program put together by Sue Nicoll and Debbie Goodall is an exciting counterpoint to the scientific program.  There will be a variety of events, with something for everyone, utilising fine Christchurch venues and the best of local wine and food.

The College Dinner will once again be a major highlight of the Meeting with formal dining arrangements and fabulous entertainment.  Autumn in Christchurch is beautiful and a number of recreational activities, guaranteed to suit a range of tastes, will allow delegates to experience Christchurch and its surrounds.

Support from the Health Care Industry is an important part of these meetings. The trade display will be housed in a single space immediately adjacent to the rooms used for educational sessions and we are confident that this will allow the trade to showcase the latest in equipment, drugs and ideas in an environment which suits delegates and the Health Care Industry.

We are very excited about the Meeting we have put together for you and we look forward to seeing you in Christchurch in May.
