CI was the event management partner for the Hillary Symposium and Dinner, held on World Environment Day, Thursday 5 June 2008. The theme was Climate Change – toward leadership solutions.
The symposium had two prestigious keynote speakers:
· Dr Rajendra Pachauri who in 2007 received the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for contributions to the environment.
· Matt Peterson, the President Of Global Green USA and the inaugural Hillary Senior Fellow.
A number of other high profile speakers also participated including President Anote Tong, of Kiribati, Rt. Hon Helen Clark, Prime Minister of New Zealand, Dr David Wratt, General Manager responsible for climate and climate change work at NIWA and Hon David Caygill, Convenor, Hillary Summit. The Hillary Institute is committed to climate change solutions, and as such worked with the carbonNZero programme to make the event carbon neutral. This involved measuring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with the event. Activities measured included attendee and speaker travel via a short survey on all menus; measuring venue energy use; utilisation of recycled print materials for tickets, programmes, menus etc, serving produce sourced from the local region and offsetting the unavoidable emissions through the purchase of carbon credits.
Conference Innovators was proud to be associated with the Hillary Institute and this event.
