Hon Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga
Hon Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga was born in Apia, Samoa before moving to New Zealand with his family. He graduated from the University of Auckland with Bachelor of Laws and Master of Commerce (Hons) degrees.
After graduating, he worked in corporate and commercial law in New Zealand, England and Sydney. He has an MBA from the University of Cambridge (Queen's College). In 2008 he was elected MP for Maungakiekie and has held the seat since. In January 2014 he was appointed Minister of Pacific Island Affairs and Associate Minister of Local Government. He is now Minister of Local Government, Minister for Pacific Peoples, Associate Minister of Health and Minister for Ethnic Communities.
He speaks both English and Samoan and is an active leader in the Pacific community, holding the high chief (ali'i) title of Peseta.
