Lieutenant General Tim Keating
Lieutenant General Tim Keating was enlisted into the New Zealand Army in January 1982 as a Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment Officer. Since then he has held many positions including Commanding Officer 1st New Zealand Special Air Service, Commandant Officer Cadet School, Commander 2nd Land Force Group, Chief of Staff to the Chief of Defence Force, Chief of Army and Vice Chief of the Defence Force.
Lieutenant General Keating has had operational duty in Sinai as Commanding Officer New Zealand Contingent Multinational Force, as well as to Afghanistan as Commander of Task Group Crib 6.
On 31 January 2014, Lieutenant General Keating was promoted to his current rank, and was appointed Chief of Defence Force. He is a graduate of Australian Command and Staff Course, as well as the United States Army War College.
