Mayor Troy Pickard

Troy Pickard has been involved in Local Government since 2001, making significant contributions in two of WA's largest Local Government Authorities - the City of Stirling, as a Councillor and Deputy Mayor, and then the City of Joondalup where he was first elected to the Officer of Mayor in 2006 and then re-elected as Mayor in 2009 and 2013.  

Mayor Pickard served three terms as President of the Western Australian Local Government Association from 2010 to 2015, having served as the Deputy President of WALGA for three years. He was elected President of the Australian Local Government Association in November 2014, having served as a Vice President of ALGA since November 2010 and as a board member since October 2007.

In June 2012 Mayor Pickard was also appointed to the international organisation ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability Global Executive Board, holding the global portfolio of biodiversity and ecosystems as well as Chairman of the International BiodiverCities Advisory Committee.

 

An international perspective on "Tomorrow's places".

This session will build on Session 1 with President of the Australian Local Government Association and Mayor of Joondalup Troy Pickard covering a broad perspective on key global issues for future generations in Australia and beyond. Case studies will be presented around the issues that other local governments around the world are tackling or considering to deal with these challenges.
