3D Cone Beam Radiographic Imaging in Orthodontics

Date: Thursday 1 July
Time: 11:15am - 12:00pm

Objectives

Cone beam CT machines are the latest development in dental imaging, but does every patient require a CT scan?  This presentation will examine the underlying principles of 3D imaging and how it differs from 2D planar X-rays, and will also explore the application of the technology in the field of orthodontics.  During the course of the presentation, a variety of image perspectives will be shown,  and anatomical landmarks and internal structures identified.

Learning Outcomes

Participants should be able to understand the basic principles of 3D scanning technology, should be able to orientate themselves with regard to basic anatomical landmarks, and should be familiar with the application of CT scanning within the orthodontic milieu.
