Why are teenagers so weird?

This session will provide an overview of what we know about the weirdness of teenagers. There are very good reasons why they engage in risky and foolhardy activities, why they sleep all day, why they sometimes lose the gift of speech, why they seem intractably bored by everything, and why they often don't seem to care about how other people are feeling. All this will be explained and in addition there will also be a photograph of a very angry cat.

In this session Nigel will traverse the wide open spaces, and twisty windy canyons of the adolescent psyche with a particular emphasis on engaging young people in the treatment process. This session will involve both science and the strategic application of pimblefloss to demonstrate how to get onside with teenage patients.
