Participants wishing to present at the 2012 conference are invited to submit an abstract via the link below.  Please read the submission instructions carefully before submitting your abstract.  Authors will receive an automatic acknowledgement of the receipt of their abstract via email.  Please note the closing date for submission of abstracts is Wednesday 29 Feburary 2012

Abstract Format

Format for Abstracts
The following format must be followed for all abstracts:

Insert abstract text in this format to a maximum of 400 words, 10 point, Arial font, left aligned, single spacing, etc...
  • Title - 12 point, bold typeface, Arial font, left aligned Leave one blank line (12 point)
  • Authors - 10 point, Arial font, Surname, First name Presenting author to be bold, affiliations numbered in superscript Leave one blank line (12 point)
  • Affiliations - 10 point, Arial font, italics, affiliation, city, country Leave one blank line (12 point)
  • Abstract text - 10 point, Arial font, left aligned, single spacing, maximum of 400 words
  • Do not insert any tables or figures
  • Do not include titles or degrees
  • Check spelling and grammar. Submitted material will be published in the Meeting Handbook - the abstract should, therefore, contain no errors
  • Standard scientific abbreviations may be used - non-standard abbreviations should be included in parenthesis after the first use of the full word
  • Do not indent paragraphs
  • Name the file with the first 8 characters from the surname of the first author (for example: wolf.doc)
  • Present sufficient data to support conclusions - it is unsatisfactory to use statements such as "data will be presented" or "results will be discussed"
  • Please ensure your abstract is saved in either a pdf or .doc file.  No other formats can be accepted.
You are welcome to email the Conference Convenors, Mike Berridge (mberridge@malaghan.org.nz) and Melanie McConnell (mmcconnell@malagan.org.nz) if you wish to further discuss topics, themes, or the presentation of your work. The decision to accept an abstract is at the discretion of the Programme Committee. A condition of acceptance of the abstract is that at least one author or nominated presenter registers for the conference.

Presentation type

Oral presentation:  If your abstract is accepted as an oral presentation you will be allocated a place in the programme. You will be advised your allocated presentation time at the time of abstract acceptance notification.
Poster presentation: If your abstract is accepted as a poster, you will be required to produce a poster that will be displayed in the poster display area. The dimensions of the poster boards are 1.190m wide x 2.3m high. One poster will be allocated to each board. It is the authors choice as to whether they format a portrait or landscape poster.

NZNO Oral and Poster Abstracts

The NZNO programme will be taking place on Thursday 3 May, and will run concurrently with the NZSO programme.  .
We are currently calling for oral and poster abstracts to be submitted, please follow the guidelines above for submissions.



Eli Lilly Award

Eli Lilly is kindly sponsoring a prize for the best presentation by a trainee or young member of the Society at the Conference. The prize will be for $1,500 cash and is intended to advance the recipient's career in Oncology, but within this guideline the recipient is free to use this award as desired.
Those eligible for the prize are post-graduate students either registered with a university for a degree, or in training for a post-graduate diploma of a Professional College. If no suitable person is identified, and at the discretion of the Committee, the prize may be awarded to a member of the Society who is 35 years of age or younger. The adjudication panel will consist of the President, Vice President and Conference Convenor, or their nominees. The decision of the panel is final.
Applications should include a proposal for the use of the award and full curriculum vitae.

To apply for consideration for award, please select Oral (Eli Lilly) for presentation type on the online submission site when you upload your abstract. Note your abstract must be uploaded by the sumbission close date 29th February. You then have until  Wednesday 4 April 2012 to forward a one page proposal and curriculum vitae to:

Other Information

Acceptance of abstracts
Authors will be advised of acceptance from 20 March 2012.

Publication of abstracts
Accepted abstracts will be posted on the conference website and published in the conference handbook.

Publication of presentations
Presentations will be available on the conference website post conference.  Details of the presentation submission procedure will be advised to authors on their acceptance.

Registration
All presenters must register to attend the conference and are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and registration expenses. Registration will be available from 27 January 2012.

Presenters must be registered by 13 April 2012 to guarantee a place in the programme.
