Oral presentation abstract

Oral presentations will be 20 minutes. Time will be strictly enforced by chairperson.

Abstract format

The following format must be followed for all abstracts:

  • Title - 14 point, bold typeface, Arial font, left aligned, all in CAPITALS, leave one blank line (12 point)
  • Authors - 11 point, Arial font, Surname, First name, Presenting author to be bold, affiliations numbered in superscript Leave one blank line (11 point)
  • Affiliations - 11 point, Arial font, italics, title, affiliation, city, country, email address Leave one blank line (11 point)
  • Abstract text - 11 point, Arial font, left aligned, single spacing, maximum of 200 words
  • Keywords: keywords in lower case and alphabetical sequence separated by commas, finishing with full-stop. Do not select more than five keywords
  • Do not insert any tables or figures
  • Do not include titles or degrees
  • Check spelling and grammar. Submitted material will be published in the Congress Handbook - the abstract should, therefore, contain no errors
  • Standard scientific abbreviations may be used - non-standard abbreviations should be included in parenthesis after the first use of the full word
  • Do not indent paragraphs
  • Name the file with the first 8 characters from the surname of the first author (for example: smith.doc)
  • Present sufficient data to support conclusions - it is unsatisfactory to use statements such as "data will be presented" or "results will be discussed"
  • Please ensure your abstract is saved as  .doc or .docx file. No other formats can be accepted.
  • The decision to accept an abstract is at the discretion of the Programme Committee. A condition of acceptance of the abstract is that at least one author or nominated presenter registers for the conference.

Best Paper Award

  • The PAQS Best Paper Award is to recognise the best paper published in the PAQS Congress 2016 proceedings
  • There will be four best paper awards:
    • Undergraduate Student
    • Post-graduate Student
    • Academic
    • Practitioner
  • For the best student paper, the author must be a registered university student or a fresh graduate (i.e. within one year of graduation)
  • If the paper has several authors, it would be considered for award under the most stringent category. For example, if a paper has 3 authors comprising an undergraduate student as first author, post-graduate student as second author and a professor as third author, the paper would be considered under academic category. If the paper is a jointly prepared by an academic and a practitioner, it would be considered under academic category
  • The Best Paper Awards (Undergraduate and Post-graduate Student) comprise a commemorative certificate, a waiver for the registration fee of the PAQS conference and a prize. The Best Paper Awards (Academic and Practitioner) comprise a commemorative certificate. The awardees must attend and have presented their papers during the PAQS Congress 
  • An Award Selection Committee is formed to select the best papers. It consists of five members (including one chairman). If a member experiences a conflict of interest, he/she will step out from judging the relevant paper
  • The Award Selection Committee reserves the right not to make any award. The decision of the Award Selection Committee shall be final.
