By Road

The ferries travel across Cook Strait and through the spectacular Marlborough Sounds up to nine times daily. The two main carriers are:

By Train or Bus
The Wellington Ralilway Station is situated in downtown Wellington.  This is the point of arrival for both the rail and bus systems.

Tranzscenic rail routes connect Wellington with all major New Zealand cities.

There are a number of bus companies running various bus services into Wellington such as InterCity Coachlines.
